Lisa Luby Ryan's House for Sale

Hope you all are enjoying your summer!  I was on Facebook yesterday and noticed a post by Lisa Luby Ryan about her estate sale.  I saw the post at 8:30am and the estate sale started at 9am.  Looking around at me and my kids who were all still in our pi's I knew we wound't make it.  So I looked up the address just to see where her house is located.  It's listed by Briggs Freeman Sotheby's and I immediately fell in love with the neutral and sophisticated interiors.  This home has been featured by Veranda magazine and was built in 1995 by the owners.  High quality materials and appliances throughout but of course that's what you would expect from a designer like Lisa Luby Ryan.  This 4 bedroom 3 and a half bath is under contract but it's always fun to peek inside outstanding homes and this sure is one of them!

If you aren't familiar with Lisa Luby Ryan then you have to check out her website HERE.  She has a fabulous store in Snider Plaza that I have taken clients too and always enjoy visiting.  I also did another post on her work HERE.

The front door is an immediate clue to the kind of experience you'll have once you walk in.  I love the antique prints and chandelier.  Even the lighting going up the stairs is not only smart but contemporary and subtle.

This chest of drawers against the pale walls and white trim set the mood for the whole house.

This mix of white and linen layers is beautiful.

I love this dining room.

The ironstone and the Barbara Barry chairs are my favorite features of this room.

Cozy and comfortable this room is so inviting.  I love the mirrored cabinets and natural lighting.

The ship painting over the fireplace is beautiful as are the antique chairs.

Sliding doors into the living room are super functional and I love seeing the black and white painting.  Lisa is great at mixing antiques with contemporary.

My favorite thing about this room is the scripture on the wall.

The kitchen's simple statement compliments the rest of the home.

The baskets on the island are a great use of hidden attractive storage.

I always love a canopy bed.  Wish I could see more of those bedside chests.  The window treatments are great in here.

Lisa Luby Ryan's eye for details make each room unique and special.

Office with kitchen.  The stair rail looks interesting.  She is so great at implementing these antique artifacts in the most fascinating way.

Contemporary artwork and beautiful linens.  Burlap back chairs are a great touch.

Love the displayed shelves with old oil paintings and books.

Marble countertop and bank of drawers with the rope detail hardware is beautiful.

Love this bed too!  I wish I could see that bathroom - it looks fabulous.

The pool is perfection.

 Landscaping is simple and gorgeous.

Dear Carolina by Kristy Woodson Harvey

I'm super excited to share with you all the beautiful Kristy Woodson Harvey today!  Kristy and her mom Beth Woodson are a design duo from North Carolina that write the blog Design Chic.  I follow Design Chic on Pinterest HERE and read their design blog HERE.  Today I'm honored to share with you her new book Dear Carolina.  That's right, this designer and writer has become an author too.  I was anxious to get my hands on this book about a Southern design mom and her life's twist and turns as God knocks the socks off of her normal.  I loved the design vocabulary and fashion references but most of all I loved the moral at the end of the story.

A book about love and life and what really matters most.  For an adoptive mom and a mom that has to give her baby up these two women's worlds get turned upside down in the best sort of way.  I loved that abortion gave way to adoption and what seemed like the harder choices gave way to the best decisions they ever made.  Kristy has hit the heart of every mother and woman trying to figure out what matters most in life.  I love so many quotes from her book but this one struck the cord with me:
"But what I did know, what my grandma been trying to teach me since I were little and sitting on her knee at church, was that people need Jesus."  ~Jodi

Seeing inside every mothers heart and head, Khaki unfolds the truth we all try to hide behind in our career facades.  That what truly matters is family and they come first "without needing to apologize for it".

Beautifully written with whit and wisdom, Kristy reaches the readers heart and soul.

Hamptons Houses No 40

Amagansett, NY
For Rent
Refer to listing to contact owner

I am in beach house mode.  It happens every spring when I want to turn my whole house white and dream of looking outside to the sand and hearing the sound of the waves.  For today I'll settle for showing you a rent house in Amagansett.  Check out the great job the owner did in furnishing this place.  The deck alone is enough to make me want to rent this beautiful house.  I would love to stay in the yellow room and I can just imagine cooking a delicious dinner and eating around the round table with those leather back chairs.
Stunning!

Favorites from One Kings Lane

Sorry for the big gaps between posts.  With two boys, blogging just seems to get squeezed out.  I love to blog and share so please keep checking in.  Thought my first post of the new year could be furniture.  I LOVE antiques and pulling together furnishings in a room.  So thought I would share some favorites I saw over on One Kings Lane from one of their past events called Montauk. It was just my style.  I loved looking through their selection of furnishings and getting ideas for my own house.
I thought you would enjoy some of my favorites.
You know how much I love a beach house look.
